Cooler weather allows you to wear trendy fashion items like plaid, fur, and leather, preferably not all at once. It also allows you to experiment more with makeup trends. Hi everyone! Adri here of Adri's World. Fall is here and the leaves are beginning to change to beautiful shades of orange, so let's talk about all the "orange in fashion"!

I think orange is one of those colors that when worn right can be very, very stylish! It's the perfect tone to add to your fall wardrobe. I don't normally wear orange, but I'm really loving the look of that coat!
 

Maybe a bit of color without making a big statement? How about some accessories? That gold and orange ring or that watch would be gorgeous with neutrals or warm colors. Add a bit of color with that orange pouch to hold a few things for a night out or with that tassel card holder and you'll sure make an impression when handing out your business cards.
 

Now, if you really want to make a statement, that bag is the perfect choice. Don't you love it? Oh, but those shoes (which by the way have a gold zipper in the back). Amazing, right?

Kimberly of KimberlyLuxe here and I'm so excited that I'll finally be visiting New York for the first time! I was invited to attend a conference for women in technology and my mind has been all over the place when it comes to my personal brand, future projects, what I'm going to wear, and how I'm going to do my makeup. One thing is for sure, I want to be camera ready for those random pictures that'll be taken to commemorate the event, as well as, those picture that may be used to later promote the event.

But I don't think that I want to cake-on my makeup as I really don't want to have to deal with the reapplication and resetting process that comes after hours of wearing the mixture of primer, foundation, concealer, and powder. So as I pack and get ready to go, I will be building a Fake-Up Bag -- one that will be full of product shortcuts for achieving "No-Makeup Looking Makeup". Because let's face it, make-up can often cake-up, so my goal for this trip will be to, fake-it like I make-it.

The products make for an awesome base and imperfection concealer without the hassle of having to go through a multi-step process that is often needed in order to achieve a full foundation routine. But recently, I have started making my own version of MAC's Studio Fix+, when I learned that Glycerin and Water have the same benefits as the clear solution sold at cosmetic stores! But if you're not looking to spend MAC money or if you're not in the mood to make this solution on your own, then Burt's Bees Rosewater & Glycerin Solution is a great semi-organic and budget friendly face alternative for you! Simply put some in a small spray bottle and spitz it before or after you're done applying your fake-up!


+ Mascara No matter if you're planning on wearing makeup or not, mascara is definitely a must-have as it allows your eyes to be the focal point of your face. Hi MadeByGirl readers, it is Alison here from Heart of Gold and I am incredibly excited to share with you a rustic fall dessert that incorporates one of my favorite fall fruits, plums.  The farmers market here in New York is over-flowing with delicious fruit, in particularly stone fruit like peaches and a variety of plums. We have already approached apple season, but I wanted to really savor the season so I decided to make a galette incorporating beautiful Italian Blue Plus.  

This type of 'pie' is very easy because it doesn't require a pan and the beauty is that it doesn't look perfect, but it tastes delicious.  As the plums bake, they succumb to almost a syrup like consistency, while the nutmeg and cinnamon create a comforting taste reminiscent of fall.  

Rustic Plum Galette

Serves 6

Crust Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups flour

3 tablespoons sugar

1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced

2 egg yolks

1/4 cup ice water

1 egg

sanding sugar, optional 

Filling Ingredients:

1 pound plums, sliced thin

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 cup sugar

pinch of salt

Directions: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  To make the crust, combine the flour and sugar into a food processor.  Add the diced butter and pulse until mixture resembles course meal.  Slowly add the egg yolks and ice water and pulse until combined.  Pour mixture into plastic wrap, form into a ball and let chill for at least one hour in the refrigerator.  Meanwhile make the filling - add the plums, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar and a pinch of salt and stir to combine.  Once the crust has been chilled, roll-out onto a floured surface.

Roll into a circle and arrange the plums in the center of the crust allowing for about 2 inches of overhang.  Once filling as been assembled, close the galette by folding the sides in.  Beat the remaining egg and brush onto crust and sprinkle with sanding sugar.  Bake for 25 minutes or until crust is golden brown.  Serve warm or at room temperature with whipped cream or ice cream.

For any season black and white are colors that you can never go wrong with—especially when worn together. What I love about this combination is the simplicity, but also how it makes a bold statement!

That coat in a classic houndstooth print with that black and white graphic necklace will make any outfit look amazing. And since the cooler weather is approaching, a pair of gloves are the perfect addition to a fall wardrobe. What about those shoes? I think they would look great with any of those bags for a day or night look.

For me leopard loafers are super versatile because they combine comfort and trendiness and although their shape is rather masculine in this particular print I consider them to be very feminine. They’re also perfect to add that little extra touch to a casual or a wear to work look. Here are some of my favorites this season:

When doing my usual fashion and beauty browsing I noticed that many of the fashion campaigns for Spring 2013 and Fall 2014 had one thing in common: a bold pout. No matter the hue, magazines and design-houses alike were dipping in different paint pots to whip up colorful lip-stains that best complimented the story they wished to tell.

In this beauty minute, I want to help you Pillow-Proof Your Pucker using Gioia Magazine's shoot as inspiration.  Let's explore quick ways to prep your lip & the best shades that compliment your skin tone.





The key to a soft and sweet pucker is to do a quick lip-prepping that will allow for your lipsticks and lip-stains to go on smoothly. The key is to gently exfoliate & then moisturize.

/// Brown Sugar ///  Go for brown sugar for a gentle exfoliation. Brown sugar, as opposed to white sugar, is often used at spas, as the crystals are much smaller and smoother which prevents abrasion to the skin. Brown sugar is also rich in Vitamin B, which helps prevent the skin from sun damage. Brown Sugar is the perfect ingredient for a sweet & soft pucker.

/// Olive Oil ///   Is a great moisturizer that helps repair impurities on the skin as it is rich in Vitamin A and Vitamin E. Olive Oil also seals in the moisture of the skin by creating a barrier that protects the skin.

/// Soft Toothbrush ///   A soft toothbrush or sponge is great for aiding in an even exfoliation creating a smooth and even surface for your lipsticks and lipstains to be applied smoothly to.




It's always tough finding the best lip shade for yourself when you're unsure of which one best compliments your skin complexion. I can admit that walking into a makeup store and being surrounded by so many different colors can be a bit overwhelming. Here's a short and sweet guide to color-coding your next pucker picking. The next time you walk into your local Ulta or Sephora, play with colors in these shades to see which looks best on you! Oh, and don't forget to come well prepped (exfoliate + moisturize) before trying on each one!

To start off I’m sharing with you one of my all-time favorite trends for chic Summer looks: nautical stripes. I think it’s safe to invest in striped garments and accessories because they’ll always be a classic and they’re also extremely versatile, agree? 

I like having several options on the table so if you are not particularly fond of striped clothing you can always wear striped accessories like striped sandals or a striped sun hat (by the way, I need to get my hands on that one).
