What is your favorite area in your home and why?

"Hello MadeByGirl readers this is Lindsay from Pursuit of Style blog! My apartment is very much a work in progress, but this little corner of my living room is one of my favorite spots. If there’s one thing that living in tiny DC apartments has taught me, it’s to focus on surrounding myself only with things I truly love. There’s nothing worse than living in close quarters with something you bought on impulse just to fill the space--been there, done that!

The reason I chose this spot is because it features some of my favorite pieces I’ve collected over the years. The caned barrel chair is part of a pair I found on craigslist. They were the first pieces of furniture I ever had re-upholstered and I felt very grown up at the time. I still love the hot pink linen almost 4 years later!

I bought the large painting this summer at an antique store in my hometown on Cape Cod. It was a splurge at the time and she’s a little kooky (my family loves to make fun) but I knew if I walked away I’d regret it. The artist is German, but I think I was initially drawn to it because it reminds me of one of my favorite Picasso line drawings.
The black console serves as a makeshift bar. I recently painted the inside turquoise which is a fun surprise when you open the doors. The tortoise glass ice bucket (being used as a vase) is another favorite vintage find. It’s equally as pretty holding a bottle of champagne!"

"Hi I'm Kat from With Love from Kat blog! My favorite area in my apartment is my office.  I work from home, so I spend A LOT of time there.  My desk is from Bungalow 5, my planner is from Bergdorf Goodman, and my candle is from Diptyque. I try to always keep fresh flowers, books and jewels out for inspiration.  I stuck to a neutral color scheme for the space, but am dying to get my hands on a MadeByGirl painting to add a pop of color!"

Hi MBG readers, its Amanda and I am back with two absolute summertime fave of mine: the iconic banana leaf print and the Massimo Vitali beach photograph. Not sure about you guys but there's no palm trees over here (in ohio) so I'm determined to bring the classic glam style of vacation destinations into our home.

What is your favorite area in your home and why?

"Hi I'm Edie from Life in Grace blog! The multitasking type of room has long been a dream of mine.  A room that’s like me - that reads and does laundry and blogs and dabbles in paints and maps and printing and child-rearing and bird watching.  We’ve only lived here two weeks but I can’t even  count the hours we’ve already spent in here. 

My girls’ new favorite pastime is to watch nail art videos and make their art come true whilst listening to me read “Gulliver’s Travels.”  It’s the first room we use in the morning and the last room we leave in the evening.   It never looks this clean.   There’s usually books and nail polish and writing projects strewn about.   We clean the green table off 27 times a day, only to make room for more art."

"My name is Carmeon Hamilton and I'm a designer out of Memphis, TN. I'm and avid follower of Made By Girl, and today I'm happy to share my fave space with all of you! I share a decent sized apartment with my hubs and 4 year old son. We're on the tightest of budgets so 95% of our furniture has been from a thrift/consignment/antique/junk shop or was created by my own hands. 

Seriously, our biggest splurge was our IKEA Kivik sofa & chase. I built the parson's style bookshelf and navy blue dining table all by myself. Here is the link to the DIY I did, I think you'll love it! I love for the thrill of a good find, but if I can't find what I want, I create it!"

"Hi this is Devon Rachel from Devon Rachel blog & I'm so happy to be participating in the first My Home, My Space series on MadeByGirl! My favorite area in my home at the moment is definitely my bar (cart). After searching for what seemed like years, I finally found the cart and could not be happier with it! I love that it has additional storage space on the bottom shelf. I never have enough room in my home to store my things!

I'm a huge fan of displaying pretty trinkets, so it gives me a fun way to incorporate what I've collected over the years."

I recently came across New York-based interior designer, David Scott while browsing the web, and oh my goodness, he does some incredible work! I looked through his entire online portfolio, and he's definitely a breath of fresh air. 

His work is sophisticated and tailored to fit each homeowners lifestyle, while keeping this aesthetics as a designer. There are so many designers, especially in New York City, but he's definitely one I'm keeping my eyes on. I've never hired a designer for my own home, but was always curious about what others thought of their experiences.

 LUCITE: (lu-cite, /ˈlo͞oˌsīt/, n.) A solid transparent plastic made of polymethl methacrylate. Who'd have guessed plastic could be so classy? It's Katie here from H2 Design & I don't know about you, but I am a BIG fan of the lucite craze. It is such a versatile material and can be seen working it's magic in interiors of all types, as seen below...

For those of you not living in NYC, the snow is back. White rooftops galore. Pretty hard to believe, since we're now in March! But, I love it...

On another note, if you're looking for something cute to stash your jewelry in or add some interest to your coffee table, check out these lacquered boxes from Lush Interiors shop. 

The owner, Carla makes these direct from Switzerland. I love them! My favorite is the one with the gorgeous white crystal. I can see this one on my coffee table or in my office! Hi everyone, Katie here from H2 Design. And yes, by now we all know that emerald is supposedly the color of the year. But I have to admit... I wasn't completely sold on the idea immediately. 

So to help persuade myself, I gathered together some examples of successful spaces that use the trending emerald in varying doses; as an allover color (WOW!), in moderation through key anchor pieces, and as a refreshing accent.
